SUBURBAN
WAYS: CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
In this special of the soap; there is sadness all around in the Robinson household. Mickey reveals his affair with Hannah and Hannah’s mother arrives in the midst of chaos and retribution
THE ROBINSON’S
The tree is gleaming with lights and decorations, Joyce Robinson filled the room with happiness as the guests turned up one by one. This year she wanted her family and friends to be with her on Christmas day. She knew how to throw a party and to have everyone here would be a blessing. After the rough couple of months the family had gone through a lot, especially with the late Cassandra Robinson’s death and thee custody battle, which they lost to Cody’s natural father Robert Carlisle.
Terrance McKenna smiled as he was handed mulled wine. He looked at his wife Margaret who was singing alongside Cliff “Have yourself a little merry Christmas” Adele and Cameron Robinson were in despair as so was Margaret’s son.
“Where is Martha?” Terrance asked.
“Something to do at the club but she be here in a moment. I have no idea she should be here it’s Christmas day!”
“Hmm is Cliff ok?”
“Why you ask?”
“Oh he doesn’t seem right he looked a bit off-colour earlier” he said.
“Last week he was unwell but he hasn’t said anything” replied Joyce.
“With her husband” he said putting his arm around his sister.
The doorbell rang. Joyce handed her glass to Terrance and headed to the door. She opened it and there standing is Josie and Arthur Mitchell with Carly and Steve Palmer. Oh thank goodness you’re here” she exclaimed. She stood aside and hugged them as they walked by.
THE CLUB
Martha sat at the desk twiddling her fingers as she was waiting for husband; he was pacing up and down the room. “So you thought you decided to tell me now you’re having an affair!” He paused and looked up, then down.
“How dare you!” She screamed.
“Martha!”
“With her of all people, I knew it was a mistake giving her the opportunity to go into our business and then going to bed with that whore!” she stood up.
“Do you love me, do you love me Mickey!”
He nodded.
“Liar!” She smacked him.

“Ha-ha, you sure you want to go back to that town darling?” Jocelyn Davies said to her daughter as she sipped some wine. Hannah Badhman looked vaguely at her mother. “I don’t know why we are going back I thought you would have cut ties with that family completely after what you caused at the christening my dear,” she explained.
“Mother that is my home I can’t hide from them forever you know. Whether they like it or not I owe half that business and trust me I got far more than ties with them” she said.
“I don’t know why I am coming at all to be honest. I thought we would have Christmas at home with our family” she said.
“Oh yeah I can see it, Mary and Chris you got to be joking!”
“I am only here for Christmas just remember that,” she purported.
“No mother you said-”
“I came here out of protest, you dragged me here. I think that if I do stay here I’d want the family to come” she ordered.
“Drink your wine!”
Scene: The Robinson’s
“Where’s Martha, she should be here for the meal” said an anxious Joyce
“Relax I’m sure that Mickey is looking after her well and that they will be here soon” added Cliff he put her arm around his wife.
“I just think something is up it’s not like her to miss a party” she said.
Adele watches Max Burns dance with Margaret McKenna. “You should watch him” a voice replied to her as she still gazed lovingly. “I see that look in your eye” she turned to her cousin. “What do you mean” she said.
“He ruined my marriage to Liz” he said.
“Really from what I heard you also strayed away there to” she answered as she got up “So don’t go making assumptions about other people, you were both to blame!” She handed him a glass of wine and headed over to Max and dance with him.
“Well everyone is enjoying themselves” said Josie to Joyce.
Margaret walks up to Cliff. “Are you okay?”
“Me just a little dizzy” he said.
“Have a sit down you have been doing a bit too much you know” she added.
“I might do or a little snooze in that fact” he said. Ken passed by. “Ah dad you be a sleep for hours” he said.
“Ssh you” he replied back.

“Explain what that you slept with that tart, that tart who has been meddling since the moment she arrived back here in town and you said there was nothing going on between you!” She hit him again and again Mickey pushed her away.

“You got a funny way of showing it!” She exclaimed.
“All I want to be is with you Martha I did not love her” he bellowed.
“Answer me one thing, was she good?”
“What?”
“You heard me, was she good?” He tut and turned away from her.
“ANSWER ME GOD DAMN IT!”
“ALL RIGHT I TELL YOU, SHE WAS AMAZING THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ARMS MAKING LOVE DAY AND NIGHT WHISLT YOU WERE JOLLYING ALONG WITH YOUR FAMILY!”
Martha screams.
“Because MARTHA that is all lies!”
She began throwing files at him.
“Martha stop!”
“You’re supposed to be my husband!” She smacks him.
“I am!”
“No, I should had listened to my family about you I loved you and loved you and they said I shouldn’t of trusted you but you did it, didn’t you! You went ahead and did what you always do hurt people”
Her mobile rings.
“Answer it, go on its them answer it!”
She puts the voice on speaker phone.
“Mother,” she said calmly.
“Darling where are you?” She asked anxiously.
“On our way, sorry ad a few bits to do” she replied. “See you in a bit” she said and closed the mobile.
“We’re going home back home to mom and dad” said Martha.
“As if nothing has happened!”
“You got that right and after we got more talking to” she added.
THE ROBINSON’S
Everyone in the household is drinking wine all except Cliff who is nodding off here and there. “Jasmine could you see if there is any aspirin somewhere for Cliff” Jasmine nodded and headed to the kitchen. There was Ken at the table. “What’s wrong darling?”
“I want to get married, I want us to be husband and wife!” Jasmine clasped her hands and ran over to him holding him close to her.
“Let’s tell them, come on” they both walked into the room happily together. Martha stood close to Mickey and held his hand tightly. The doorbell rang again. Martha let go to answer it.
Joyce walks over to Cliff who had nodded off. “Cliff come on wake up and go to bed” she said.
Adele looked concerned as she watched her mother.
“Cliff, Cliff!”
In the hallway Martha stands face to face with Hannah.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Hannah stood smiling, not know what she knows.
“Here I bought something for the family” she handed a bag with a bottle of wine. Martha took out and threw it out smashing against the floor, Hannah was shocked and she pushed her out and slammed the door. Mickey stood behind her. “You better come inside” he said glumly.
Martha looked suspicious and followed Mickey.
“Mom what’s happening here?” Joyce was very upset and fell to her knees. Josie rushed to her. She looked at her father who was lifeless on the chair. She began to cry as so did everyone as silent night played in the background.
