SUBURBAN WAYS EPISODE 8
Carly Palmer felt a little frustrated as she slammed books on the desk of her classroom. Her ex-husband Malcolm Ward had decided to pay another visit and make himself feel at home.
Alan Knight peered through the door. “Is it safe to come in?”
“As long as you don’t mention him” she said. “Every time I open a door for myself he has to come and slam it shut in front of me! I was in line to become head teacher at this school for a long time. He is using the divorce to get back at me, that’s for sure and I won’t let him!”
“What are you going to do about it?” Carly raised her eyes.
“Play dirty. I want him out Alan and want him out as quickly as possible” she said with a glee in her eyes.
“You said don’t mention him”, he replied.
Scene: The Vito Cars
Cliff Robinson sat in his chair watching his employees as they sold his cars.
One employee Cass Robinson his ex-daughter strolled into the room and smiled. “Hey how is it going? Do you need anything?”
“No. I’m good. Thank you.” he added. “But thanks for asking.” He began looking at his notes.
She smiled at him “Can I just say, Cliff, thank you for being the there for Cody and me. I’ve wanted to say that to you for a very long time but haven’t had the chance. I think you’re the only one who is caring enough for that” she walked over and leaned across the table and leaned for a kiss on the cheek. Cliff was astounded but he kissed passionately back. He caressed her cheek as he was pressing harder on her lips and lifted himself up from his chair. Cliff finally gave into his advances and grew even closer to Cass Robinson.
The kissed stopped and they pushed back gently. “Oh I’m sorry” said Cliff. “I didn’t know what I was doing.”
“Cliff, I’ve felt it too, for a long time” she stroked his elbow. She paced around and put her arms around him and kissed yet for a second time.
Scene: The Inn
Arthur looked upon his customers as they were having drinks around the bar. Pippa Ellis, Pam’s twin strolled through the door. “Pippa?” Arthur called out, astonished to see her.
“Yes, hi.” she said. “Is Steve here?”
Arthur nodded. As he went over to fetch him, Steve already popped behind the bar shocked. Then he realised who it was. “Pippa? What are you doing here?”
“I’m sorry I didn’t call” she replied. Steve walked around and hugged a dear friend. He gestured for her to sit down. “I am so glad I called you I have been itching to see you or talk to someone, but I need to know that I am not being daft” she said.
“What is it Pippa? What’s the matter?”
“I think I have seen Pam!”
Steve looked at her, confused. When he could finally respond calmly, he said, “Pam is dead”
“I know that’s what I have been thinking myself.” she said. “The fire men said that the bodies were in a bad way, right?”
“Stop!” He snapped at her, leaping to his feet. Everyone went silent in the Inn. “Pam and Ben are dead, face the fact! They are not alive. Now get out before I throw you out!”
Pippa stood up furiously. “She is alive, Pam is alive and I saw her!”
Josie emerged from behind her husband and took Pippa by the hand, escorting her out. Steve slammed his fists down onto the table and stormed off away from the scene as the customers slowly returned to their talking and drinking.
Outside Pippa was crying as Josie stood consoling her. “I am not lying, Josie,” she insisted. “I’ve seen her. She’s alive”
“What makes you think she is alive?”
Pippa took out a photo. “I was in the city” she sniffled. “I was walking in the crowd and I saw her coming right at me and she walked away from me. I tried to call out but she went really fast, so then I went back again and I SAW her and I took this photo!” She handed it to Josie.
Josie looked and it resembled Pam. “Okay I think you better leave now”
“If you don’t believe me, Josie, go and see for yourself. Then come back and tell me you don’t think that she is alive!”
