SUBURBAN WAYS: NEW SERIES : EPISODE 127
Residents mourn the death of Joyce
Scene The Streets of Suburban Ways
Hannah stepped from her car that afternoon and locked it behind as she walked into town. She rummaged through her bag to find her credit cards until she realised she had left at home. “Hey Hannah” a warm welcome came from Jean Harris who spotted her and hugged her. “I just loved your eulogy for Joyce, it was so moving” she put her hand to her heart. “It’s not a day goes by that I don’t think about her” she added. “How is Ken?”
“Oh they are plodding on, going to go and see them next weekend if you are interested in coming?” Hannah paused.
“Too early for me I’m afraid. Sudden rush of leaving and leaving poor Philip” she sighed.
“They had reasons and I can tell you that his daughter is doing the best she can” Jean replied.
“Yes Taylor. I am not sure if I like her,” prompted Hannah.
“What do they say Hannah? Don’t’ judge a book by its cover” Hannah rolled her eyes. “Good to see you Hannah” she smiled and walked off.
She looked at her watch and went back to her car to go back and get what she needed.
Scene The Armitage’s
Taylor looked through interior decorating magazines. “What are you doing?”
“Just looking dad” she browsed through as he placed a cup of tea next to her.
“I don’t think that interior designing is appropriate don’t you think?” Philip took the magazine away from her.
“Dad this house is yours now, before you know it the removal men will come and take things away, then where you be” she replied.
“I will deal with this in my own time; I don’t need you to interfere with my business Taylor!” He stood up and stormed off slamming his cup into the sink.
“Dad!”
Scene The Inn
Leo busied himself around the bar as Ronnie was watching his rippling body at work. She could not help but notice his dashing presence. Was this a good idea but she was on a mission to get her hands on Max instead. Ronnie stood from the desk she was working on and headed over to help around the bar, getting ready to pen at twelve for the punters to arrive. They were also on the hunt for another bartender to help them out.
“How is the applications going?”
“Ah trying to find a suitable person not so good, someone funny and a good worker. These lot are terrible” Ronnie clasped her hands in excitement/ “I’ve got it, let’s have a competition, I mean it I just thought what if we have an open mic night, get people to audition for the bar tender job!”
Leo cocked his head to one side. “You know that is not a bad idea” he touched her shoulder.
“Well, shall we plan it then!”
“I’m in” he called excitedly. “We can even get Hannah or Max to come and judge –“
“Not, Ronnie they are club managers, we need the local punters in” he replied hastily.
“Fine, fine, Gladys it is then!”
Scene: The Salon
“I got no one to talk, they all up and left” Taylor sat in front of Missy in the salon waiting area with a cup of tea. “You and Mickey knew them mostly. I am an outsider who has come strolling in the last minute and I have no idea what to do,” she said wearily. “In my experience I think you should wait until he comes to you, he will need you. Mickey lost Martha and when she passed away he was in a mess, Joyce called me to sort him out” she placed her hand on her knee. “I know that he come to you in time Taylor wait and see” she said.
Taylor was forever grateful that she had guidance from Missy and even though she knew she was no angel herself, Missy was there for support.
